Our story
An international family who chose the path less travelled.
Emily from Australia, Ben from the UK. We met in the US, started a family in Singapore, lived on a boat through Europe for 4 years during Covid, and now live in Valencia. This is how it happened.
Met in the US
Emily from Australia, Ben from the UK. We met in Pennsylvania and knew pretty quickly this was something special.
Emily moved to the UK
Emily made the leap across the world to Manchester. A new country, a new chapter, and the beginning of building a life together.
Ben moved to Australia
Then it was Ben's turn. We swapped the grey skies of Manchester for the sunshine of Sydney. Another continent, another adventure.
We moved to Singapore
An opportunity came up and we took it. Singapore became home. Careers grew, life was busy, and the city buzzed around us.
The still moment
Sitting with our first born, Chico, we realised we wanted to find something different before he went to school. Something more than the big-city corporate life we'd built. We didn't know what it was yet, just that we needed to find it.
The search
We spent months and months researching. A travel year? An RV? We wanted to be comfortable enough to do it for longer, because one year felt like we'd just end up back in the same place. We knew this would be a step to somewhere else. We just didn't know where.
"What about a boat?"
Almost by elimination, we both turned to each other and said the same thing. A sailing boat. It ticked every box: freedom, nature, minimal living, quality time, and no fixed address. Once we said it out loud, everything clicked.
The departure
Four years after that first quiet moment, we left. Chico was nearly four, Chica was two. We set sail from Singapore into a world that was about to change completely.
Life on the water
We sailed through Europe during Covid. Not the plan, but very much the adventure. Years of quality time together, new experiences every week, living minimally and close to nature. Exactly what we'd set out to find.
Valencia, Spain
We put down roots in Valencia, where we currently live. But our wanderlust hasn't stopped. We've been on adventures in Central America, across Europe, through Asia, and back to Australia. We're very well known for choosing the wacky path.
Helping others do it too
We keep hearing the same thing: "I would love to do something like that." And it doesn't have to be nearly as adventurous as what we did, just something different, something out of the ordinary. We know what that can do for a family. And we're here to help you make it happen.
The family
Who we are.
Emily
The Boss Woman
Diligent and organised, Emily is our Boss Woman in charge of operations. She handles everything from planning and logistics to homeschooling and masterminding the next big adventure. She loves books and cups of tea, can't stand clutter, and has a free spirit that's always ready to roam.
Ben
The Man Who Gets Things Done
Ben's drive and passion for turning crazy dreams into reality is second to none. A skilled engineer and experienced leader, he can turn his hand to just about anything. Adventurous, resourceful, and always up for a challenge, he loves his family and feels most at home when life's in motion.
Chico
The Original Reason
Our first born. Born in Singapore. The one who, without knowing it, started this whole thing. It was a quiet moment with him that made us realise we wanted something different.
Chica
The Adventure Baby
Our second born. Also born in Singapore. Was two when we set sail. Has never known anything other than a life of adventure, and thinks everyone's family lives on boats.
Why we do this
Regret minimisation.
We've found a lifetime of benefits: education, mindset, perspective, and connection, all from choosing to do something different. We love sharing our story, but what really gets us excited is hearing about other people's plans and ideas.
What we see too often is the enthusiasm for the idea, followed by it getting put off and put off until it's too late. The kids get older. The window feels like it's closing. Life gets in the way.
We don't want that for you. Your version of “something different” doesn't have to be as adventurous as ours, just something out of the ordinary. Because we know what that can do for a family.
The proof
We didn't read about this. We lived it.

The world is our classroom.
We continue to educate our children with a global mindset. Every country, every culture, every challenge on the road is a lesson no school can teach.
